The Police Command in Lagos State has detained four officers captured in a viral video allegedly harassing a young man in Odoguyan area of Ikorodu, pending disciplinary measures.
This was disclosed in a system by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi,
According Adebisi, the offcers were identified as members of the tactical team operating in the area after the police investigation.
She also noted that the officers were summoned to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, where their case was reviewed. The meeting ended with a decision to detain all four officers immediately while disciplinary proceedings were prepared.

”The verdict was that these officers would be detained immediately, pending disciplinary proceedings. Also, the entire team will be disbanded,” she said.
According to her, the officers are being held for further inquiries and will face appropriate disciplinary action over their alleged misconduct.
She added that the command would not tolerate misconduct or impunity among its personnel, regardless of rank or assignment.
Adebisi said Tijani had, upon assuming office, charged officers to discharge their duties with integrity and humility.

She maintained that the command was committed to enforcing those standards and taking action whenever personnel acted contrary to official directives.
Beyond the disciplinary measures, the command called on residents to report police officers whose behaviour violates established rules and regulations.
Adebisi further praised members of the public who helped identify the officers featured in the viral footage. She said their cooperation enabled the police to establish the identities of those involved and apprehend them within a short period.
The command urged residents to continue providing credible information that could help expose misconduct, strengthen accountability and improve security across Lagos State (Vanguard newspaper)
